Three Women Killed in High-Speed Crash in Lake County

On March 30, 2025, around 3:00 a.m., a tragic accident occurred on State Road 19 near St. Florian Lane in Lake County. A 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee, driven by 30-year-old Shaykaylah Mathis, failed to navigate a left-hand curve, veered off the road, struck a pole, and overturned multiple times. All four occupants were ejected from the vehicle. Mathis, along with passengers Kaneisha Lewis, 32, and Aqutavia Pew, 28, were pronounced dead at the scene. A 26-year-old female passenger remains in critical condition. A video surfaced showing the occupants consuming alcohol and the vehicle reaching speeds up to 116 mph shortly before the crash.
